Hi guys i've recently purchased a new mackie profx8 mixer and i am using the software reaper on my laptop
i was wondering if possible how to record individual tracks from the individual channels on the mixer instead of every audio track on the software being all of them in one.

Cheers for anmyones help i know it sounds confusingg

Right-click on the meter bar for each track and select the input you want to record from.

Its in the manual....

I know exactly what you mean because my band does the same thing for recording. We have a 20 channel mixer and we use Reaper. We usually record about 8 tracks simultaneously (drums, 2 guitars and bass).

Here's where it gets tricky. To multi-track record with a mixer into your computer... I may be wrong on this, but you have to have some kind of sound card that splits your inputs before going to the computer. We use 2 Delta-1010L cards which has 8 channels on each card. Then, you have to get a studio snake that goes from the Insert jack (on the mixer, it bypasses the sliders and EQ's) into the sound card, for us it needs to be 1/4" to RCAs. Then you have to set your audio on your computer to the sound card, and when you create tracks on Reaper, you choose which input on the sound card you want as that track.

Sounds pretty confusing. I may be wrong on some things, but that's what we do for my band and it seems to work out just fine.

Oh, I also forgot to add that when you plug into the 'Insert' jack on the mixer... you only plug it in halfway, to the first click if that makes sense. If you plug it in all the way you won't bypass the channel levels and EQ's on the mixer.

okay so i need to purchase one of the soundacards
might sound stupid but is the soundcard straight into the usb ?? andf does the mixer still go through usb or into the soundcardd ????
never used them before so havent reallyu got a clue :D
