I have many plugins for EQ, reverb ect...but I never use them because if I dont like a certain setting, I have to undo the effect on a certain track so I can apply new settings.

I'm looking for realtime plugins for cakewalk 9 that function as knobs, plugins which you can tweak while listening to a song and notice the difference depending on the track you are applying the plugin to. any suggestions?

Thanks.

any suggestions?
Yeah, RTFM.

Almost all of them are realtime plugins - including most of those that came with PA9. You're not using them properly.

Read The F!@#ing Manual

what is PA9?

Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 - the software you are using.

All the FX plugins are realtime plugs...

Once’d upon a time I downloaded some plugs from Digilogue, called Blue Line. They were free at the time, but I believe they cost now. They actually seem to be pretty cool. Other than that I use the ones that came with PA9 and the 3 aftermarket Cakewalk effects packages which were free off the web. Oh, also Waves Native Gold bundle which I got for free off the web. Looks like I got all my aftermarket plugs for free. All real time tweakable. So kill me.

When I go to the console view to apply the realtime effects, I cannot select button that says "apply audio effects", it stays grey even if I select the desired track, is there something wrong with the software or am I missing something?

Put you cursor on the black square directly under the track title and right click your mouse. A list of effects should appear. Scroll through and left click on the effect you want. That effect will then appear in the black square. Then double left click on that effect and the settings box for that particular effect should display somewhere on your screen. The Cakewalk program has a help menu if you don’t have a manual. Also the Cakewalk site has tips, and if you happen to be a registered user, there is online support. They even have a phone support line.

thanks for all the helpful tips.

is there a way to listen to the plugin or effect while playing an instrument, a guitar for example? without having to record.
