Realtime pitchshift?

Hey guys.
What I need to do, is make a recorded sample 'dive', as if a guitar whammy bar has been used on it, but for vocals. It's hard to explain, so I'll link you guys to some good examples.

Is there any software/VST plugins that can do this?

What DAW are you using? In Logic you can simulate a tape winding down... that could work. You could also use a detuning insert and automate it to detune at a specific rate. Once I know what DAW you are using I'll be able to suggest some better options.
 
Going into Reaper at the moment, and I had a look and couldn't find any built in effects that could do this.

I know a pro who uses a whammy pedal on vocals sometimes. I assume it's for stuff like this, but I don't know for sure.
 
Yeah, someone's suggested that to me in another thread, but because the samples are already recorded I'm looking for a software option.
Is there any VST's that would have the capability to bend a pitch over time?

I was going to mention the whammy pedal too. If the vocals are already recorded you could solo the vocal track and feed it to a headphone out on your interface, go from the headphone out to the whammy input, the whammy out to the interface input, and then monitor the input.

You could also blast that vocal through your monitors and mic it through the pedal.

But to answer your question, I'm not aware of any plugins that can do it. I was thinking about how to do it along time ago when I was brainstorming how to do a "kidnapper" type voice modulation, and the only thing I could think of was pitch shifting the track several times to make several tracks at several pitch levels, and automating the faders, but then it would sound like autotune.

Speaking of autotune, I know that my TC Helicon hardware will let me set up the autotune on it in some really custom ways, including custom scales. I never use it, but maybe if you have an autotune plugin, and it will let you set a custom scale, maybe you can set a scale with only one, really low, target pitch, and set the correction to a soft enough setting that it does the pitch correction slowly enough to sound like the dive you are looking for. Seems like the whammy pedal would be easier.
