I was just wondering exactly realtime effects are. I thought they were effects plugins that you could hear while you are recording?
I know that this was one of the selling points for cep 2.0. Anyway, any info is appreciated.

Because I've got Cool 1.2 and not 2.0, I don't know what real time effects are. :D

My understanding is that you hear realtime effects as you apply them in playback, not while recording, but I could be wrong.

I think that Dobro is right. You can adjust parameters of a realtime effect and hear its affects as you adjust it, as opposed to stopping the playback, adjusting the effect, and restarting the playback.

Aside from tweaking effects in realtime which allows for greater flexibility, there are also effects envelopes which allow you to adjust how dry or wet you want a wav to be over the legnth of it.

Hey!

They're right, you can't apply effects while recording. I do find the real-time effects extremely usefull....especially since they are non-destructive. With CEP 1.2 I would apply effects to my tracks....and then the next day i wouldn't like the effects that i applied..so I'd be up a creek. (I could have avoided this with having a "dry" version of my tracks saved....but, i have to worry about hard-drive space). But with 2.0's real-time effects, I can completely remove, or change the effects whenever I want! Now that's cool!

Dobro Promo

I have nothing musically informative to add...so skip this if you're looking for actual insight about music.

HOWEVER, I was deeply saddened and utterly shocked to read in dobro's post that he's been inexplicably allowed to linger in the purgatory of "1.2" for so long. I mean, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, here's a person who has tirelessly toiled in the thankless job of moderating this site for as long as I've been getting free advice from it. Despite being confronted with an apparent wall of apathy from Syntrillium, Dobro is the one who religiously provided updates regarding the super-secret release date of 2.0, and dobro is the one who has taken on the task of eliminating the posts from those misguided (but well-intentioned) souls who think it's appropriate to share links/tips regarding "cracked" CEP software.

After registering over...over (my GOD, that CAN'T be right) over 3,000 posts, and after VOLUNTARILY reading every self-important piece of crap that folks like me waste each others' time with, Dobro's GRAND REWARD for promoting CEP appears to be...well, OVERDUE.

I feel fairly confident that the feedback provided on this site contributed significantly to the development of "2.0" So to those Syntrillium "lurkers" out there monitoring this board (you know who you are), in the name of all that's decent and right, please, PLEASE don't tarnish the good name of your company by allowing Dobro to go another week without receiving a FedEx package containing a comp'd (and full licensed) copy of "2.0"...

If such a miscarriage of justice is allowed to continue, I'm gonna' send him (or her) a cracked copy myself...although I'm sure Dobro wouldn't take it.
