Realtime effects processing

Hi everyone - quick question.

I am using a DAW for recording purposes - however, I am interested in using my PC to do some realtime effects processing. I am 24-bit S/PDIF capable on both the DAW and the PC.

Does anyone know of any tools out there that will do realtime effects processing on an input signal? I think T-Racks can do some stuff real time (or so I've heard) - anything else?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers.

I've heard the term "realtime" effects used in two different ways.

One is used to describe the "non-destructive" application of effects to a previously recorded track. I think most recording software allows for this.

The other is the application of effects while recording. Sonar has this ability; however, you can get into real latency issues with this. I believe at a minimum you need to have WDM drivers for your soundcard and a pretty good computer. Others may be able to give you more/better specifics.

Ah - thanks for the clarification. It seems shame that I have all of these awesome plugins on a nice PC - should be a way to use 'em in realtime! :D

Cheers.
