ADD -- blessing and curse
I'm using CakeWalk 2002.

Ok, I know how to lay down a drum track using MIDI and the Session Drummer. I want to try to record some piano tracks using the VSC DXI. I noticed that it does have a setting for piano, but I can't seem to get it to do anything.

Anyone got any advice?

I know...it's a really stupid question.

The VSC is a general midi DXi. It will allow you to do nearly any instrument you want - although the quality is hit or miss, depending on the on the instrument.

What do you mean you can't get it to do anything?

I assume you've searched the online help for DXi's, and followed the instructions? Also, you realize you have to provide an input. This can either be done via the Piano Roll view, or by recording a midi track using an external input device and then feeding that back to the DXi output track.

Unlike Session Drummer which comes with some "programmed" beats/fills, the VSC requires you to provide the midi notes.

The Piano Roll View is probably what I'm missing, then.
