Really Really Weird Error/ProTools related

I know I know, there is a ProTools forum, but I think more people read this...

Anywho.. PT 7.4 on a PC. using Digi 003. no ADAT currently.

The sessions are tracked fine so far, but now as i'm adding to them,
The audio being recorded plays back 100% fine. but the actual waveforms
are just completely not right. I mean it's not even close.

Has anyone had this issue before?
I've used PT from 5.whatever to 6.9 and just made the switch from
6.9 to 7.4 and have never had this issue. Is there a way to tell PT
to create the waveform AFTER the recording or Punch in has finished?

I know my old versions always did that. Ugh.

hey benny,

whenever i record, it starts the red box, and as it progresses it builds the wave form
but, it's always wrong. I know how it should work, but it just doesn't.

i just edited this, and hit the wrong button, i'll re-edit later.. ughh.

I will check that list/board whatever you posted, thanks!

What do you mean "wrong"? What's wrong with them?

I mean that the audio plays, perfectly fine, but is not correct visually.
Which leaves editing out the window.

It is the strangest thing.. a display that clearly shows that you didn't start playing for 10 seconds, then, just whatever... and then something that is clearly also not what you played.
and then for a bit after you stop playing, it is still drawing waveforms.. it's the wackiest thing.

I've been using PT for at least 6 years now, and haven't had this issue ever.

The only thing I can think of that might cause this is:
I started the sessions using my presonus digimax, and had it sync'd to the clock in that.
But, I loaned it out to my friend, and I'm just using the internal clock now, and it's some
how clocking differently?

I'm baffled.

is there a way we'd be able to see it in a screen shot? Or is it something you just need to see and hear at the same time?

you'd definitely need to see it and hear it..

maybe i can isolate a waveform, and make a copy and post it...
it's the most odd thing in the world.

you don't have your buffer size set extremely high do you?

I don't think so, but i haven't really checked that.
It's whatever the default is.

I will check that later.

Thing is, if i start a new session, and work fresh, it doesn't happen.
only in sessions in which i started while using the ADAT clock.
