Real Media compression

I'm streaming my bands demo from my website. In mixing I compressed it, perhaps too much but it was a live two mic mix and needed some. It didn't sound too stepped-on to my newbie ears. Anyway when I listened to it from my website the compression for rm really made it sound stepped-on. Should I always do a seperate mix for streaming?

I have heard many good mixes being streamed that just sound like dodo....I think that if the original sounds pretty good, you are hearing about as good as it gets for that much data compression.

Yes but if I did a mix with less compression and maybe kicking up the highs a bit, wouldn't I get a little crisper rm?
