Hey, I am in the process of getting a mix ready for mastering and I am in dire need for a set of fresh ears. I want to get it sounding as clean as possible before I send it off. These forums have helped me greatly in the past and I am looking forward to any feedback.

This is a Hip Hop mix and I do warn you that there is foul language. I just got a new set of Tascam monitors so I am still learning how they translate. So far they are pretty awesome and leave my old monitors in the dust.

You can find the Mp3 at:

It is in the new mix folder and the song is called "Pay Me"

Thanks,

C

Sounds pretty good. I like the space and depth, that always seems to be missing from a lot of hip hop and rap. You might try doing a mix with more bass and let the mastering engineer decide which mix to use. Seems like it could use more low end on my Klipsch with a sub.

Or better yet find a kick ass bass player to lay something down. A groove filling in the blanks between the main riff would be cool.

Hey, thanks for checking out the track. Sending in a couple different mixes of each song is a good idea, it gives the mastering engineer some options. Thanks for the idea. I do have some trouble getting the low end straight, my next purchase is a sub for my monitors, until then I will have to do some more tweaking, hehe.

Yeah, I agree get a bass player in OR get some sub bass keyboard lines.
Not enough wall shaking!!
Good job of recording though.

Hey guys, thanks for the input, we do listen to a lot of T9 and Haystack and westcoast artist. I believe is carry's over into our style. Just trying to come up with something that is not the norm. Don't get me wrong though, wall shaking bass is nice but I really want a bass line that is nice and tight. We do have a very suttle bass line that accompanies the kick but it might need to be bumped up a notch. Thanks for the input and we are always down to collab with other talented artists! Just hit us up...

The ME will probably be able to adjust some of the bass. I can hear what you mean about the bass/kick sync. Simple and effective and that might make the bass a bit harder to distinguish. This is a really solid mix though - I agree with the earlier post about the clarity and the dynamics are good. Ready for mastering - without a doubt I'd send this mix in....Congrats!
