Read Write not behaving with Cubase LE

Just been playing with the levels on an audio drum track using read and write, and the system remembers earlier versions (or parts of them?) rather than the latest write version. Hence volume slider jumping all over the place and wrecked the mix

Got so frustrated I deleted the track, but would like NOT to have that happen with other less dispensable tracks.

Anyone any advice? According to the manual it SHOULD just overwrite with the new write!

Right click on the channel and get Cubase to "Show all automation"

This will bring up point-by-point controls for the position of every command you have automation for on a track.

Just delete the stuff you don't want, or add in the stuff you do want using the mouse. Its useful for making fader movements linear.

Thanks - I'd actually got there myself by delving through the automation section - was thrown by the simplicility of the read write section in the manual, which tells me:

"If you activate Write for a channel, all mixer parameters you adjust during playback for that specific channel will be recorded as automation events.

If you activate Read for a channel, all your recorded mixer actions for that channel will be performed during playback, just like you performed them in
Write mode."

This sounds to me like it overwrites, which clearly it doesn't! (though WHY?? It would seem more sensible to let you just overwrite if you want to). Anyway, managed to neaten up several other tracks using the approach you suggested.
