a spoonfull weighs a ton
I tried this technique out last night for the first time.
Basicly, for those who don't know, it involves taking a send form your mixer, routing that into an amp (tube of course
) and then micing the amp and sending the signal back to the board. This all takes place during mixdown. You can use it for anything not just guitar.
It truly is a tasty technique
Ani Difranco uses this a lot on her mixes- yes she actually mixes herself (with some help of course) I think a lot of Steely Dan's guitar tones were done this way too.
I sort of "cheated" last night by using the recording out on my amp- but I can't wait to try it with a mic! This will probably be really good for me cause my tele buzzes so like mad in this apartment and I can't mic the amp- just too noisy- but the reamping thing gives me some hope that I'm be amp to get some "real" amp sounds
It's just a matter of finding someplace to stash it where I can't hear it.
Any body done this before and have any tips/experiences/troubles they could share.
