hahahahaha :-D

There is in fact bass, and I was actually considering lowering it in the mix because I thought it was too LOUD. I think instead what I am going to do is re-record it. I fucked up when I was recording the bass. I was using a Fender Jazz Bass and I accidentally turned the volume on the neck pickup all the way down. So what you are hearing is the bridge pickup going through a light overdrive into my attempt at recreating a vintage ampeg sound. Long story short, it has the frequency response of just another guitar, so I want to re-do it and give it a bit more "oomph" cuz as it is right now, the attack of the bass sounds super loud (to my ears at least) but it has no bottom end. The whole track seems to be lacking some bottom end to my ears actually...

And seriously, for the life of me, I can't find this ringing telephone noise anywhere lol. I've listened quiet. I've listened loud. WTF!?!?!?!

I think the telephone noise is something in the cymbals maybe?

Whatever bass you have in there, it's definitely not too loud. I'm hearing nothing that resembles a bass guitar. A re-track might be good....and bring the guitars down.

Solid.

The guits do need to come down a bit. I understand that if i got that deadly of a sound for my guitars id want it loud to, but .... you gotta have the other stuff present too.

Performance is dope.
Sounds in and of themselves are dope.
A little more time mixing to find that telephone noise.

Its something in the guitars when your chugging along. Not sure what effects or processors your using. It could very well be something to do with your compression on your guitars when your chugging it's probably brining up some weird palm/string noise.

Thats my hunch as thats about the only timei really notice is when your palm muting.

Im gonna give it another listen.

See 1:15 to 1:25 for a clearer description on what i was saying about the palm mute / phone ringing. It is quite present there.

I hear it maybe kind of in the cymbals, but not so much in the guitar playing. It could be the amp sim software I am using. I am gonna spend Friday working my DI tracks through different sim software and presets do see if I can get something better.

As for the effect chains on my guitars?

processed revalver tracks -> Analogflux tapebus (very light tape distortion) ->Waves C4 (Compresses lower-mids) ->EQ (slight boosts at 125, 400, 1.5k, hi shelf at 6k) ->waves rverb (very very low setting here).

There is no full-compression on any of my guitars. I find that compressing them takes the weight out of them and often makes them sound messier and less defined.

Distorted guitars are already "compressed". Compressing them is almost always pointless. Again, I think the telephone sound is in the cymbal samples. I could be wrong though.

Wow. Great recording. I listened to the most recent one so it seems the issues in the previous posts were mostly cleared up. Also, there was a certain amout of dislike for the drums, I thought they sounded great. I'm pretty impressed with the steven slate. The bass guitar does seem to get 'lost' but that happens alot in this style of music. Nice.

I love this kind of stuff so this is right up my alley. The guitars/playing are really good. The drums being programmed doesn't bother me that much, they sound pretty damn close for melodic death. There is definitely something weird going on with the Crash cymbal. When the drums stay on it, there are some weird overtones swirling around. Almost sounds like there are keyboards on those parts haha.
I would love to hear this with vocals. Great job man!

Very nice power metal tune, FTM.
Great guitar playing with a very good tone. The tune is arranged very well, I dig it!

Amazing stuff man. If I can get anything sounding half that good I'd be very happy. Listened to all 3 efforts in order and the difference is inspiring.
