I am interested in one of those Isolation cabinets as in my current situation I only have one iso booth.Does anybody have one and what do you think.I primarily record hardcore/rock n roll music and I am wondering how well does it contain the volume and how realistic is it? How does it compare to a 4x12 closed back cab for sound? Do you recommend the celestion vs. jaguar speaker? Do you mainly use it to record simultaneously with other instruments as a isolation factor than overdub micing a regular cabinet? Or is it good enough to keep for mixdown? Any replies will be helpful,Thanks,Greg

Just a suggestion....

I'd try to build my own iso-cabs.
From looking at your website, it seems that you've done some decent work putting your studio together... so, why not build a couple of these things for yourself?

I'll bet John Sayers could be of some help on this. ;)

I had the opportunity to check out the Randall cabinet and, though it is a good idea, there is no reason that someone couldn't build one for less than half the price.

If you are good at woodworking, then you can save a bundle.

BTW I am prejudiced toward the Celestions, so my opinion in this matter is probably not valid.

Thanks for the replies.Yeah,Buck I've been considering building a smaller Iso booth just for guitar cabs. Thanks again.

I have one, with the Celestion speaker. It works very, very well....

The only downside to it is that it only has 1 XLR - I would have liked at least 2.....

If you do build your own, make sure you port the panel for the speaker, and be smart and put 2 XLRs there..........

Bruce, considering you have one and I assume you use it regularly do you mainly use it for isolation concerns than overdub the guitar parts with a regular guitar cab when isolation is not a majoir concern or does the iso cab sound just as good as using a regular cabinet?

By the way thanks for the replies and Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!

I use it both ways.... it's a great match with my Fender Tube amp.... other times I'll mic up my Yamaha.... still other times I'll leave the lid of the Randall Cab open and mic it open-ended.
