Pretty cool. I cant even tell if those are real drums are not. Whatever they fit nicely with the mix though they do sound a tad fake or maybes thats the 80s lol. The vocals sound nice, never heard this ramones song but you did a nice interpretation of it.

Nicely put together production.

Dave

Lol. They're real drums. No samples, triggers, drumagog, or trickery. Is that good or bad? :o

Thanks a lot for listening. :)

Great mix Greg. Easy to make out each instrument yet it is nice and cohesive. Not familiar with the original but this has a definite punky flavor to it. The bass is tight but is not overly visible - I'll take it that is like the original. Vocals sit right on the edge in this mix - I like the way you've balanced that....Playing is excellent......

nice work! captured the vibe nicely too!! what drumkit and mics did you use?

Thanks a lot. The drums are an old Rogers 5-piece with pinstripes on the toms and a coated-reverse-dot Emperor X on the snare. The mics are from a CAD Pro-7 drum kit pack.

Greg, that sounds about a billion times better than the original, and I'm actually very impressed with the drum work. I'll stop with the mix comments because you need to be giving ME mix advice

You absolutely KILL in so many genres. Do you write much? I'd love to hear some tunes if you've got 'em.

You nailed it !!! This friggin' rocks...Like the guitars/mix better than the original.Great job man!!

Wow, I am not worthy to comment on this mix, but I will anyway. Nicely done.

The vocals seem a tad heavy on the low mids, and a tad light on the upper mids and treble. You are using a little more noticable reverb than the Ramones do. Also, the ride cymbal on Ramones mixs tends to be in the forefront, whereas yours seems right in the middle. Also, Ramones mixes traditionally have the guitar low for some reason, IMO, lower that you do.

Also the lead guitar lines in Ramones mixes tend to be minimally audible. I think they kept it back down in the mix because Johnny was insecure about his soloing capability, and rightfully so. Also, that's in keeping with the genre IMO. I played in a punk rock band for years.

Wow. Thanks guys.

Chris Harris - Thanks a lot for the nice words. Unfortunately, I don't write anything. I think I've been blessed with the ability to do other peoples songs pretty well, but I can't write my own. I've tried, and to me, I can't come up with anything as good or better than the bands I normally listen to and feel inspired by, so I give up. I really enjoy doing covers though, and I just fart around with this stuff for my own enjoyment, so its no big deal. Thanks for listening. :)

variaxman - Thanks a lot. The Ramomnes are my all-time favorite band, so I just try to do them justice. :)

ibleedburgundy - Thanks for taking the time to listen and reply. I hear what you're saying about everything. I'm not really trying to mimic their sound perfectly as I've found that getting a good Johnny guitar-tone is damn near impossible without a vintage Mosrite and a JCM900 - neither of which I have. So, I just try to come close. If you listen to the original, you'll hear those little lead licks are pretty prominent. Also, the original version was produced by Phil Spector, so getting mine to sound anything like his is pretty much impossible. Like I said, I just love the Ramones. I've been a fan since I was 12, and just try to do them justice. Thanks again for listening and the feedback. :)

It's totally authentic, as usual! No surprises here!

'Everything is in the pawn shop!!!'
... That's just too funny, but it's too bad/so sad about Dee Dee. His death was the most tragic of the Ramones' demise, so far. I guess Tommy's gotta be looking over his shoulder now,... (as the last surviving original member). ;)

Rock on, man!

The mix sounds well in most aspects to me. Though the Kicks and Toms have a bit much low end for my taste.
Maybe slightly less compression of the mix might be a good idea as well.

Haha. Thanks Dave.

Personally, I think Joey and Johnny's deaths were the most tragic. Dee Dee O.D.'d on heroin. I love the guy, but he did it to himself. Joey and Johnny died of cancer before they could even really enjoy the fruits of their labor. In any case, R.I.P. all of them. Gabba Gabba Hey.

Thanks for listening. I barely use any compression over my whole mix, but I'm not that good with it yet either, so maybe there is an issue. But, the song doesn't have much dynamic range anyway. It's just a blast of sound through the whole thing. What are you hearing that you think it has too much compression? I'm always open to feedback and suggestions.

If this is the intention, there is no issue about that. It's just not my cup of tea then.
I still think, there is too much low end, though.
