Rainy Day, Metal with vocals now... 2 Versions, BBE

Straight Jacket Sunday Music Page

I updated Rainy Day with vocals... I think it's much better than "Without Reason". It has a pretty wide range and a lot of different styles. I even did a 3 part harmony. Let me know what you think.

I just got the Sonic Maximizer plug in and put it on the guitars, vox, and drums... It really changed the guitar sound drastically. I actually had the rack version in my old 2101 guitar rig.

The growly vocals fit the best for this song. The vocals at the beginning are a bit "too nice" for the genre. Does that make sense?

At 2:15 the clean vocals and growly vocals are perfect for this song (IMHO)..... The tone/style of the clean vocals from then on seem to be much stronger and suit it better.

The mix is pretty much right in my headphones.......

Good solid tune as well.......

:D :) :D :)

I like it....great tones on that guitar man...love the chigging part. The harsher vox are it man...I don't mind the cleaner vox, but that harsh stuff is cool. Fits well. The harmonies are good.....I got no real nits myself. This is good.

I've gotten alot of that "your vocals are too nice" mainly near the beginning. I was trying to go for a contrast. I've also had people say it just doesn't fit. I thought the music is light at the beginning... I think I'm at a loss on what the heck to do with this stuff... I'm sick of hearing the expected styles over this type of music... To much screaming or that same metal singing voice are boring to me now...

Thanks for the comments guys...

THank you monkeyman. I even posted a thread about metal becoming monotonous. No these vocals are great. Growling is so fucking gay if you do it the whole song. Really nice song. I only heard it once and I dont recall hearing a solo. If it doesnt have one add one! Not that its what is expected but solos always enrich your song :D

At least I havn't gotten the out of tune vocal comments(yet). I keep leaning toward using some sort of perfect pitch correction, but I feel it will give me less drive to become a better singer...

Side not, I was listening to Alice In Chains unplugged... Alot of times their harmonies go off or out of tune. Also the singing is out of tune sometimes... Not on the studio albums though. It would be cool if they started up unpluged again and singers had to go it alone without technology, then we would see who has the real talent.

Excellent recording man!
I actually dig the intro vocals, sounds cool with the verb and keys in the back. Like you said, it's a cool contrast... a contrast like that makes sense to me since this feels almost like a heavier prog song. ANyway, just my opinion.
Very cool track

Thanx Snakedog... Actually, alot of the time I guess my stuff would be somewhat progressive since I don't repeat parts in a structure unless I'm doing it make something "easier" to listen to. I like change in tunes...

Also, I recorded vocals to my song "After Thoughts"... Once again, alot of contrast and various vocal styles...
