I'm planning to get a mutli channel direct box soon. I've narrowed it between two D/I boxes. Radial's JD-6 or Whirlwind's Multidirector. I'm only using this direct box for tracking synths. Can anyone give me some input between the two, which one is better?

In general, I find the Radial boxes to just plain sound better than the Whirlwinds. It's not to say that the Whirlwinds are bad, but the Radial just seems to translate into a bigger, smoother, and more open sound. Then again, they are also more expensive. Radial and BSS are my two favorite boxes for standard DI's that offer good sound quality and good durability.

Cool! I was thinking the Radail D/I were better. I hear the Countryman and the BSS are nice too!

Personally, I like the sound of the BSS boxes the best of the three, but they are all very close. The Countryman is my least favorite do to durability issues. However, as far as sound quality goes, I would not be upset with any of the three.
