GO PACKERS!
Are rackmount tuners worth the extra $$$

I've got two bad reasons for wanting one,
1.I've got an empty space in my rack
2.I'll always know where my tuner is :o

Now I need one good reason to get one.
Right now I have a Sabine tuner that does the trick, does a rackmount offer anything more to warrant the price?

I used to love mine. Don't have it anymore, but if I was gigging - I would get another one.

That whole in your rack space could be filled by lots and lots of other things though ;)

It really is up to you at the end of the day will have it racked make things easier/more comfortable for you? Does it make your signal chain better/or else not worse?
If sothen you should look into it... especially now the market is more competitive with fender/korg/behringer all having models out there now..

I have a Fender RT 1000. Definitely love it, too. Dealing with replacing the 9v battery in my old handhled tuner sucked; not to mention the LCD was small and hard to read.

The Fender unit I have has two inputs, two outputs, mute function via switch on front and/or foot pedal. Runs off of standard household current, which I really like.

Personally, I love my Boss TU2 ($79.99-$99.99 depending on who's having a sale). It is right at my feet, mutes by stepping on it, and is very easy to read. Great for live use. Plus, it will leave room in your rack for something more fun!

I also use a TU-2 tuner in a live setup.

How long are those batteries supposed to last, and I also presume that when not switched "on" the battery draw is minimal. I got a good 6 months use out of a battery, (about 15 hrs a week use...or plugged in that long as an average) before I decided I ought to change it. The original "roland" battery crapped out pretty quickly, and left me with a dead signal when it died. Even though the batteries can be changed quickly, I don't like the idea of it dying during a "crunch time"....

I'ven ever tried a TU-2... but my thoughts here are that it needs to be decided if there is a need for rackmount.. The extra in's and outs, to me, can be good, it also allows me to fit it into my rig.. which i am working on all over again ... of course :)

But
Pedals are fine for most people.

Really if you need to fill rack space buy a lexicon verb or a bbe sonic maximiser or something... unless you are adamant you need to spend the money and if your tuner is doing okay for you... only then would i recommend it..
Of course I have GAS so ignore my advice, I can't stick to it.

I'll stop ranting now :p
