Hi,
I've been debating whether to go amp/miked into my PC or do the Rack Mount route. Have been looking at the Mesa Boogie Recto Recording Preamp Rack Module and the POD xt Pro Module.
Can't make up my mind. At first I was thinking I should get a small 15 -25 watt amp and use a SM-57 on it and go to town. Then someone mentioned the Line 6 Vetta 2 Amp Series.
I could use some useful banter to help resolve my confusion.

Thanks
Oh, Nice to be here... First Timer...

Tough choice.

I have done both of the things you mentioned. I used a Pod XT and a tube amp. For the cleans the Podxt does the trick, you can get some really nice tones. But on the dist end of the house it doesnt sound all that good. Its a bit thin and sounds digital. Of course thats just my opinion.

I decided to go the amp route. If you go with a small tube amp you have a great clean tone and you can dist with pedals or the amp. Different mics, positions, and so on.... The options are endless and IMO are more flexible and easier then the PODxt.

Now I cant speak for the Mesa as I have never used one. I do plan on buying a Behringer Vamp for scratch tracks or throwing down quick ideas. Much easier then setting everthing up.

Hope that helps a bit.

PODs/amp modelers are usefull tools. I have damn near all of them (Rockmans, J Stations, POD, etc). They're good for late night tracking and quik and dirty stuff. That being said, there's still nothing like an amp moving air in a room miked up for the real thing. Just my humble opinion. YMMV.

Thanks guys,
This gives me some food for thought..
Any other ideas ?

Cheers
