I have my home studio about finished, what CD burner would you recommend? My budget for this is only $450. Is that realistic? Thank you in advance... Mitch

Sony CDR-W33 $470

HHB CDR830 BurnIt $500

Both great units. The Sony has better features but the interface of the HHB is a bit simpler.

TASCAM CD-RW700:

RCA unbalanced analog I/O
S/PDIF coax and optical digital I/O
24 bit A/D and D/A converters
Sample rate conversion
Adjustable gain on digital I/O
Digital fade in/out from 1 sec to 24 sec
Built-in timer for preset play/record
RAM buffer
Programmable
Wireless remote included
Auto or manual track increment
Sync start

The CD-RW700 is TASCAM's budget-minded CD recorder, but features came first when the product was designed. Like most products in this price range, the CD-RW700 offers unbalanced I/O, and S/PDIF digital I/O in coax and optical format. However, this product stands above the crowd, with a RAM buffer, 24-bit A/D and D/A converters for premium sound quality, digital gain adjustment, and digital processing of fade in and fade out from 3 to 30 seconds. It's also got a monitor function that allows it to be used as an A/D converter or sample rate converter, without the need to place a recordable disk in the tray or enter record mode. And of course, it's the only one in its class that will rack mount with the rest of your gear.

thanks

Guys, thanks for the info! I will check around and see if the gear you suggest is available, perhaps on ebay before heading to the retail stores (e-stores).

or...

Perhaps you know of a better place to obtain good used gear... I can buy new, but with a limited budget, good used gear works out just as well. Thanks in advance. Mitch

You can buy the TASCAM on e-bay for around $400. Not too many of these on the used market yet.
