rack dimensions

I'm building a cart for my recording equipment. While I don't currently have any rack-mount equipment I plan to get some in the near future (TC Electronics M300, Behringer headphone amp) so would like to equip the cart with rack rails (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/451432/)

How much space apart should the boards onto which the rack rails are attached be spaced?

The interior space between the sides is 19 inches. If you've got the choice, err on the 1/32" too large side.

And make sure your rails line up properly. Very important. Some of the "cheapy" rails out there are pretty uneven. Easy to spot them - The holes look the were "eyballed" instead of measured properly.
