Why Roland shipped the Studio Pack with only a 3ft RBus cable is beyond me, but I'm wondering if someone knows of what can be used in it's place. Guitar Center only has 15 footers for $69 and I only really need 6 foot. Is there a PC cable capable of being used in place of the RBus cable? Any help here would be appreciated.

you can get that cable at any computer store or even radio shack.

I dont know if a regular serial cable will work. Has anybody tried that with success? Just because the jacks are the same does not mean the cable is the same.

Two m-audio rbus cards and two VSR880's

I am trying to connect the two VSR880's with my computer. Have anyone used regular cables (from pc shop). And does it work?

Thanks

Muziekshuur,

Just got your PM. I didn't pursue this any further but since you brought it up I'm going to find out today. I am going to do a continuity test to see what's going on with the cable. My inkling is that it is just a DB25 but the test will clear that up. If so we can all save a bunch of money and realize what a bunch of capitalist pricks we're dealing with at Roland.

I'll post the results this PM.

Did the test, it's definitely not a standard serial cable. None of the pins match up at all. That sucks.

I did read somewhere that you can use a regular comp cable as an extension as long as you still have the original RBUS cable in the path to line up the pins properly. You might try that, Stray.

I would give it a shot but I'm not using my RBUS with a computer right now.

Tex,

Great idea, never thought of that. I'm going to give that try and post back here with the results. Thanks again.
