Hey there,

Got a call from a friend hoping I could help out. He's using cakewalk music creator (not pro) and wants to add a staff in the notation view. He can't figure out how, he's stuck at one staff. He wants to make more of a score.... like 4 staves I think. I don't have the program and have never used it, can somebody tell me how he's supposed to do this?

Hmmm.... this is covered by the manual and the helpfiles, I think.

And by the way Cakewalk have never claimed to be making notation software, so maybe that's it. I never use the Staff View myself...

I'm sure it is, but I'm not there to read them and find out. He couldn't seem to, so I'm trying to help him via the phone. If I had them, I'd read them.

Close the staff view...

Insert new MIDI track on the Track view...

Name the track "Jaymz is Great" *

Re-open the staff view...

Have a look....

ps.
* "Jaymz is Great" is mandatory name of the track. In case you wanna add several tracks at once, name them in order : Jaymz is Great", Jaymz is very Great", Jaymz is very very Great", Jaymz is very very very Great", and so on...:D :D :D

Hehe... I didn't say you should read the manual. Maybe he should. ;)

I just figured it out: Tell him to hit the button marked red and select the tracks he want in the staff.

The only occasion I use it is to insert guitar chord symbols. Some of my tunes use esoteric shapes and I find it useful later on for remembering exactly where it was I put my fingers... :)

I've never thought of that track naming convention. Mine are boring, like Guitar, Keyboard, Drums
