You seem to have some useful insights and information but your delivery and insulting manner make it difficult to hear.

Don't look the gifthorse in the mouth. ;)

or, conversely...ask someone who isnt obnoxious, acts professional, and has more to offer.

:)

nahh..

nope. I dont see any reason to ignore you.

I will just carry questions, when I have them, elsewhere. I do only location classical recording anyway...so thats a different beast.

Ill stick to asking the guys who have made names for themselves in that field.

No offense of course.

Ignoring is silly and childish. :)

Yeah, I am SURE there are lots of guys around here that have "made a name for themselves" in the location classical recording field!

I didnt say around here , did I??
This forum isnt focused on that, obviously.
I said I would carry it elsewhere.

Then what are you doing here? Since nobody here seems to be of any help to you, and OBVIOUSLY you aren't too much help, you should just leave! I mean, 4 months and 643 posts of you being an ass seems like such a waste of time! ;)

Ill stick around but thanks. :)

There are a couple folks whos opinions I greatly value here. You just arent one of them. I aint going anywhere though, papi ;)

I guess I should ask you the same question sonusman/hafleramp etc...

and 4-5 years and many aliases later you are still around BSing people, so ive got a lot of catching up to do. :)

BSing people. HAHA...that is a good one! :)

By the way, I started here about 7 1/2 years ago. ;)

You know, if my shit didn't sound so fucking killer, people wouldn't listen to me. ;)

We don't, you are funny, that's all. Sometimes rude, but mostly, funny. Not haha, just...funny

Um...ok??

Do your thing man. Im doing fine without your advice though. :)

Nah, you don't help, you just like to hear yourself think

Yeah, that inbox full of "Thanks man!" messages from users here. You MUST be right, I only fooled them.

Well, it's gettin' late guys, and the missus is expecting me...

*as he slowly edges backwards toward the door*

Peace.

What does all this have to do with mic pres?

Not much.

But back to the original question : since he's going for vocals, IMHO he's got lots of good, low cost mic preamp options open to him, like the ART Tube MP series, or Studio Projects VTB1, or the M-Audio DMP3 two channel preamp to name a few.

Or, for not much more, he could have a JoeMeek ThreeQ channel strip featuring a mic preamp, optical compressor, and EQ section... everything in one half-rack box.

These options range in price from $50 to $200.

There's lots of other good choices too. ;)
