Hi, my intentions for my first home studio were an iMac,an m audio fast track pro, logic express 9 and an m audio oxygen 49. Went to m audio
Web site and found out that the direct link function was not compatible with logic express but was compatible with logic 8 or higher only when used in 32 bit mode. I am wondering if anyone uses this configuration or if any one can give me some suggestions. On last thing is that I do own a Roland tdw20 v drum set witch means I am looking for at least a midi out to record patterns. Thank you

Basically you are stuck with whatever M-Audio says...

I use an Oxygen 49 with Pro Tools and it works quite well. It's definitely not a high end control surface, but it does what it is advertised to do. The faders control the Pro Tools faders (although not vice-versa), the transport functions work well, and I can use the encoders to control parameters on many of my plugins.

I don't understand your question regarding the Roland e-drums; don't they have a USB connector to send MIDI to your computer?

No, the brain only takes data from midi so I'm looking for a USB midi controller with at least 1 midi out. Thank you it looks like I have some more research to do.

Since the TDW-20 is an expansion board, I'm assuming that your drum kit is a TD-20S (correct me if I'm wrong).

As you noted the TD-20 module does have only standard 5-pin MIDI jacks.

However, the M-Audio Fast Track Pro has 5-pin MIDI IN and OUT jacks, so you could connect your drum set to them.

this mpd24 and mpd32 have a bunch of knobs and faders (plus button switches on the mpd32)this makes it an all round controller for synths, effects etc and not just a drum pad.
