OK, virtually decided on the 603s but then thought about micing a choir or a small orchestra. Would the 603s be good for that or would another SD Condensor be a better choice (without spending 4 times as much as the 603s)?

What about LD Condensor on that application (micing a choir/orchestra)?

Also, what applications would be good for having a pair of LD Condensors (same model)?

Sorry to bore you with simple questions but again, trying to keep from overspending AND get great recordings.

Thanks!

I've never used my 603 for micing a choir, but I bet it'd work great. SD condensors are said to work especially well in that application.

Thanks Second, I am aware that for the most part, SD Condensors are the weapon of choice for choirs etc, just wanting to know if anyone has specifically used the 603s for this application. I plan on getting the 603s and the much-touted ECM8000s and was just hoping to learn if I would get a quality recording with them in the choir/orchestra application (as far as the mics are concerned).

Secondly, still wondering on the application of a pair of LD Condensors -ever needed? For what?

Thanks!

I have used a pair of LD condencors on a string quartet and they worked great. I have even used them on a marching band and got a very good sound as well. They were AKG C3000b's. I am not sure that an LD is any better than a SD, but I have had good results.
