Hey,
I bought a 488 a while ago second hand. It didn't come with any instructions so I was hoping someone here would be able to help me out with some of the features.
1) How do you punch in/out? There are all the buttons underneath the display that look like they should do it but no matter how much I mess around with them I can't seem to make it work.
2) What is the pre-amp like on the 488? i.e. when I plug a condensder mic into it, will it make as much noise as a normal mic? What sort of results can I expect?
3) What type of tape do people use? I know you're supposed to use type II and that 60 mins tape is better than 90 (how much better?), but is it worth getting real high-quality tape? Does such a thing exist? How much would I expect to pay for it?
4) How do I use the effects loop?
5) Is it true that when it very first came out the 488 cost £1000+?
Sorry to bombard you all with questions, what with this being my first post and all. Hopefully someone can help me out.
Cheers
