I'm buying a laptop to record, and just realized my PCI soundcard (audiophile 192) will now not be able to be used because of that. I would like to use M Powered Pro Tools, and I would like to get the simplest compatible interface I can. I only need two inputs and midi. I'm thinking of getting the M-Audio Fast Track Pro. It seems as if it would suite the mentioned needs for a very low price. One question though-I already have a sweet Brodhurst Gardens preamp and would have no need for the sucky inboard pres the Fast Track Pro has. Would there be a problem if I used an external preamp hooked to the Fast Track Pro?
