Hi everyone. I am new at this and have a question?

I have a vcr recording that I would like to turn into digital. And put it on my website. I dont know the right terminology for this but how do I do this? Is this the correct website or can someone steer me in the right direction. I had hoped to do this as cheaply as possible, maybe with a piece of software or something ,maybe, get it done free. Please someone advise me. I dont know how to do this or where to go. Thanks for your help.

To clear up the confusion

The VCR tape is a moving picture that I want to show on my site. Not just music. as I said . I dont know the right words to use so I returned to post again in case someone said, What are you talking about? lol Thanks for any help.

you need to get both a video card with video in and a soundcard with audio in on it.

you can buy these cheaply at Best Buy or something if you're not too worried about obtaining exceptional quality. what are you video out options on your VCR? some maybe RCA while others might be coax or S-Video. You'll need to get a corresponding video card that has those connections or an adapter. an adapter can be bought at BestBuy or radioshack.

same with the sound. more likely it will be RCA...so you'll need a soundcard that accpets RCA or get an adapter. as far as software programs to do the recording...I'm not sure. look around freeware.com for something or I'm sure someone else can suggest something.

One other...

Another possible suggestion if you're just looking to do this once - is to get something like a Sony "TRV" video camera...

When I'm editing video, I can use the "VCR inputs" to transfer the video/audio signal to 1394 interface (or "firewire" as it's sometimes called) to get the video AND audio into my video program all at once... The audio quality should be good for your application and you should be able to get full video quality (initially) for the video...

Once you have the clip in your computer you'll need to compress it so it's not so large when you transfer it to your website...

But that's another story...
Hope this is helpful...
