I was wondering how i can get my KEYBOARD to play midi files, i have the cable...and i have some midi files downloaded, and the files play on the computer...but how do i make them play through on my keyboard. I have "acid music 3.0," and Cakewalk midi studio. I know this can be done, becuase when i installed cakewalk, it tested out the midi out port, and all of a sudden the keyboard starts playin very nice sounding music, i was astonished, so i am wondering how to do it with midi files

I am not familiar with your particular programs but I will try to get you on the right track.

First find the program that will enable you to add a new MIDI device. You should be able to find your specific keyboard if not set up a genaric device and make sure its able to receive and transmit on all 16 MIDI channels same with your keyboard.

Now Hook up the out port of your computer to the keyboard and the Out of your keyboard to the computer if you plan on adding to the MIDI file.

Next Import the MIDI file on to some tracks, If it opens with all the different MIDI parts seperate thats cool If not I can't explain how to seperate them because its different in every program.

If the did open up with each Individual MIDI part or you figured out how to split them you next need to find the Patch change or program changes at the beginig of each track and delete it. (If you do not delete it if you change the sound to something that sounds nice on your keyboard and hit paly it will automatically switch back to the original patch) Next set each track output to a different MIDI channel (1-16) and tweek the patches until you get what you want

Does this help??
If not just throw some questions at me.
