On my ST55 there is a switch, that I understand to be a high pass filter? (see picture) It can be placed in either position 1 or 2. Can someone explain to me which position is which, and their functions? TYVM!

A high pass filter is a (not being a dick) filter that only allows higher frequencies to pass through.

The image on the left represents a flat eq ie. Not altering the sound.
The image on the right represents a filter than is reducing low frequencies. It allows the highs to pass.

Logical?

Here's how a typical software HPF looks.

I generally don't use filters on the mic because you can always just do it later in your DAW.
If you do it at the mic you're committed.

Why do they put them on mics then?
I guess they're pretty useful in live sound applications and maybe for recording direct to analog media or recordings without effects.

PS: You do realise you drew a picture of an annoyed guy chewing a golf ball, right?

Thank you so much!!! I was about to leave it on, and I definitely don't want that on!

Hahaha yea, im proud of my little drawing.

BTW. anyone know when the next original song contest takes place?
