...happier than you.
I just bought a Delta 44 and it came with Logic Delta... I currently use n-Track,.. but it's a little buggy and I'm willing to try alternatives... I was just wondering if I should try out Logic Delta, or if it's just a pitifully stripped down piece of software... does anyone use this? or know if it's worth using?

I installed it and messed with it for a bit, but couldn't make any sense out of it... so it's definitely not as easy as n-Track... but I'd be willing to give it a try if someone thinks it might be worth it.

I got an omni studio and had already re a book on logic. Tried using logic delta and couldnt even find the record arm buttons. My guess is n-tracks is more powerful ( but i wouldnt think anywhere near as stable) than logic delta. If you have the money i'd get logic silver/gold/platinum. I bought Gold straight away and i havent looked back. It takes a bit of getting used to and there's always something new to learn (which is a plus) but its a fantastic piece of software. Its a profesional as any other piece of software as far as im concerned (and pro tools is only better because of the hardware if you ask me) but its not very hard to learn how to record and play. How much you need to know depends on how much you want to know and want to be able to do.
Anyway hope i was of some help

Alright.. I'll keep the "real" Logic versions in mind for when I feel like shellin' oat the big bucks. :)

Logic Delta isnt too bad. It does all the basic recording stuff just fine. To arm a track just hit the REC button on the channel fader. It is pretty quirky and you will need to read their horrible documentation but just doing basic mult-tracking is pretty straight forward.

Sample/region editing and file management is where Logic is a real pain in the arse.

One thing I diddn't like about logic Delta is you couldn't insert individual plugins on the track. You only have 2 aux and that's it.

But it was good to get started with. My take on it, if you have something that you are comfortable with and it is not limiting you at this time, stick to it and make music :)

cheers

You can insert up to 2 effects on each track as well as send to 4 busses for buss effects.

Tex,
I got to check that when I get home. I was sure I could have only two effects for all tracks. I wish I found this site before I bought another program :). Oh well!

There are so many lite versions of Logic out there you may be correct. I have Logic Delta RSP which is specific to the Roland Studio Pack. I thought the only difference in the RSP version was they allowed you to go up to 24bit but I could be mistaken. Hopefully not.

If you right click on the insert box right above the Buss sends it should open a dialog box to pick effects.

Ye you are right about the versions, my came with omni studio so it's probably closer (if not the same) to what WATYF has. It also has 24/96 support but limited to 16 audio tracks.

I use logic delta currently. After trying my hands on platinum, logic delta harldy resembles platinum.

It does the basic stuff, but forget using it with a midi sound module.

Also, as someone mentioned, you cant insert plugins into a track and this stinks.

And how much did you pay for it?

I also use logic delta and have had my share of frustration.
I can only get it to record 2-3 tracks max of audio. Is this a limit of it being a 'free' version of Logic?
ANy assistance would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean it only records 3? What happens after that? What are your computer's specs?

It is limited to 24tracks so it's probably a hardware problem.

After that I can arm the other audio tracks to record but then no signal is received on the level meters on the mixing panel.
my system is
P3 550
128MB ram
audiophile card
p.s. since only being a newbie I might be doing something very obviously wrong
