just wondering about the unbalenced ins can i not use a impedence maching trranformer and make the ballenced

help if you can

thanx

You can use a matching transformer to match the low impedance microphone to the hi impedance (unbalanced) input on the C-Port, but the unbalanced inputs probably wont have enough gain to make them useful for recording mics. Try it and see. You should be able to get the "in-line" type of transformer for $20 or so.

For the best sound quality, you would want to purchase a separate mic pre-amp, and connect its out put to the unbalanced inputs of the C-Port. Or if you have a mixer with built-in mic-pre's, run your mic through that, then into the C-Port.

Yea, if you're lucky enough and your preamp (or d.i. box) has both a balanced and an unbalanced output (some can even be both at the same time) then just used a standard unbalanced cable (from the unbalanced output) and you're set.

If the output is balanced only, then you should be fine if you go balanced out of the preamp in to an impedence-matching transformer and then in to your sound card.

You might have to check the spec sheets on your preamp to find out it's output is balanced, unbalanced or both.
