question on slowing down music?

has anyone used the Slow Gold software to slow songs down? is there any other software out there that will do that?
i have been using the tascam guitar trainer and would like to be able to do this on my computer and get rid of the tascam unit.

have you tried just taking the wav file of the song and putting it in sonar or whatever recording software you use and just changing the tempo to a slower one?

no, i don't have a computer setup yet so i can't try that.

I have used it, and I think it's a great tool. Even at 50% of the original speed, the pitch remains the same and the parts are mostly distinct enough. The interface is a little old-fashioned and it doesn't like it when you have more than one sound card (won't work with a CD as the source, you have to have the file on the hard drive).
