Question on reverb and panning automation

So I am using a reverb (Glaceverb to be exact) on a send to a stereo VSTi. I want to pan the track rapidally; basically, every note I want it going back and forth in the stereo field.

My question is that the reverb trail, will it stay where the note was played, or if it pans to the other side of the field, will the trail follow?

Hopefully that makes sense.
 
Why are you sending it to an instrument track?

What you want to do is automate the track's panning, and leave the verb send as is. Does that make sense?

That way the track ping pongs, and teh verb will trail off from each pong where it pinged.
 
Thanks that's exactly what I wanted to know.

And I'm sending it to an instrument track because....I want it to have reverb?
 
Do you mean as an insert? I'm using a single reverb unit, feeding it to the different tracks that need it.

No, I mean as a send.

Maybe it's a Cubase thing, but I thought VSTi's were virtual instruments. Effects go on FX tracks in Cubase - maybe it's just called something different in your DAW.
 
I have Cubase LE, but I'm not sure what you are talking about. Maybe it doesn't have that feature, something the full version does.

May I ask- isn't that send the instrument to the verb? And second, do you want the verb to follow the source pan ..or not? Either can happen.
 
I ended up recording the VSTi as audio, seeing as how when I pan the stereo instrument, it doesn't follow the pan law, so it gets quieter, and as there are many many volume automation changes, it would be impossible for me to calculate both the volume swells I want AND compensating for the panning. So I just summed it down so I can only write the volume compensation.

Basically what I did is take Glaceverb, which is on Send #1, and then on each of the tracks that need the verb, I just feed it a bit. Including the VSTi's.
