i was looking thru a catolog the other day and saw a palm top studio thing which is a multi track recorder with a built in mic and has a 1/4 jack for guitar or external mic and was wondering if i could use it and link it to my computer or something and it be just as good as all the other stuff so if you can answer this question please do

ok i wasnt to clear on that i just want to know if it could be used to record and if so if it would suck horrably

I have one of those things (Zoom Palmtop Studio). It does not hook directly to a computer but you can get a SmartCard reader to transfer files. The sound is remarkably good, considering, and some of the guitar effects are quite useable, but it is only about a 32 kHz sampling rate, and the sequencer part of it (drum/bass sequencing) is not as flexible as one would hope and has no MIDI interface. It's not a bad little sketchpad device, but that's about all. It can't really replace a "real" recording system.
