Hello Everybody,

I use Reaper V4.10 on Mac 10.7. I am mixing down new material, I have one track with Choir Ahhs..
Now Im trying to achieve left to right.. As in I want the Choir to start in left ear and move to the right ear. Should it be recored in stereo or mono? And what can I do to achieve this effect? Currently I have it in mono, and have used a stereo effect, without really any noticeable change.. Could someone try to explain this..

Thank you

Rough call -- *assuming* the "Ahhs" are in stereo, you should probably record to a stereo track. You can still pan that track -- and that's *assuming* once again that you don't want it hard-panned to either side (which nearly never sounds quite normal unless you're feeding it into quite a room simulation or reverb of some sort).

Or are you saying that you're panning it with no change...?

Well the track is in mono, and Ive opened the automation, ticked 'pan' and new track comes up underneath. Can adjust L/R from there, but haven't figured it out.. I will try to redue it in stereo form.. Now, after in stereo, what can I use to create that effect? Without having to do it manually on mix down.. Im still new to the whole panning and all, and never really done this before

No, you are doing it correctly. Mono track (changing it to 'stereo' doesn't mean anything, if its mono. Pull the pan automation down (left) at the start, pull it up (right) at the end.

Thank you both.. At first I didn't see how to adjust the pan automation to left and right.. Got it now.. You guys have been the best.. Thank you again :)
