Hello,

I have a question on "Melodyne" I am not sure if you guys are familiar with this product? I bought it about a week ago and I gave it a try yesterday. So, I´ve recorded my vocals to a song. Ok, saved it as .wav, loaded it into Melodyne and then big surprise.... all my vocals were in between two notes... ya know, on melodyne it´s written G/G#/A/a#/B/C... and all my vocals were somewhere stucked in between all those. ... my first thought was: "Crazy, that´s impossible, no human can sing that wrong... I mean, how possible can this be, that you miss EVERY note for about 1/4 note....?

I tried to fix this, but it is not possible. Melodyne only allows to move notes for 1/2 note or more. When I take the "AutoTune" Version - ok, then the problem is solved but then it sounds completely wrong.

I´ve recorded an other song as well and there the vocals were OK... nearly everything was fine... when I had to sing an A I sang an A, and so on... But still I am not sure what happened to "track A" - the other song. Did I knock Melodyne out???

Are you familiar with this problem???

I'm a big fan of Melodyne and find it really useful to polish up vocal takes, even with people who can sing well!

When I take the "AutoTune" Version - ok, then the problem is solved but then it sounds completely wrong.

I can't quite understand what the problem is, but sometimes when I correct some really out-of-tune vocals by ear then I'll end up getting the melody right but maybe transposed up or down a semitone or two (depending how far out the note I chose as a 'reference point' to do all the other tweaking based around was)... obviously this will sound fine by itself, but awful when you try to drop it back into the mix! Maybe this is what you were experiencing?

Hi thank you,
yeah, I think Melodyne is really good. The only drawback is... creating a 2nd or 3rd voice is a bit strange, because the 2nd voice sounds a bit like ... it was recorded in the bathroom.

OK, the problem was.... :) (I´ll try again). I´ve recorded a vocal... and I was supposed to sing an A for example. But melodyne said that it´s not an A and not an A# it was something between. The same with the C (was not a C and not a C#, it was something between)... So I chose the option "AutoTune" - so now the notes were correct. An A, a C and so on.

But when I droped the melodyned Vocals into the mix again it sounded completely wrong.

So I was wondering if my singing was sooo wrong or... ah, now I know what could have happened... The backing track... I´ve changed the pitch of the backin track because the original track was a bit to high for me... and I think I didn´t get one pitch down, it was something like 1,2 or 1,3... and now Melodyne doesn´t really now what I am singing here *lol*

My mistake... :)
