I'm looking to purchase a direct box (or boxes) to record bass and guitar on my PC. I've been reading product reviews and messages on this board, and most people are of the opinion that the SansAmp line is the best for the money.

SansAmp makes an instrument preamp (the PSA 1.1), and they also have the RBI and RPM, which are the rackmount versions of their bass and guitar DI's, respectively.

My question is, would you prefer the PSA 1.1 over both the RBI and the RPM? Both packages would be roughly the same price, so I'm just looking for the opinion of someone who's used SansAmps. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I can only comment on the Sans Amp bass driver DI which I have available in my studio for clients to use. Everyone seems to like it. The only thing I have found is if the clients bass has active electronics he has to be careful not to overdrive the Sans Amp. This is usually just a matter of them becoming familar with the Sans Amp if they have never used one. Sometimes we will just go with a standard DI like a Countryman for bass's with active electronics which work very well also. Audition them all if you can and go with what works for you. Good Luck, Dave

Thanks for the input, Dave. I've been reading good things about the SansAmp line on this board. Since the rackmount bass and guitar version (RBI and RPM) are both about $300, and the PSA is about $600, I was just wondering if anyone would prefer the single over the combo (or vv).
