Question for recording drummers.

I dunno I kind of like running from the computer to the kit, the feeling of doing it all by myself is nice. On the other hand, after a long take, it makes me more likely to settle for what I have then to go for that killer take.

I play keys and drums, and I formulated my remote plan when I got sick of literally jumping out of my chair in front of the pc...dashing across the room to sit down...and then expect myself to cut a reasonably musical track under this circumstance. For me, it just wasn't working. Now I take a deep breath, or fart or crack my knuckles...or whatever it is I need to do to be mentally prepared to perform...and then smack my designated record button when I'm ready.

One other thing was I marked some keys on my keyboard for a transport with permanent marker.

"0" = stop
"." = play
"enter" = record
"1" = return to beginning
"2" = rewind
"3" = jump to end

Just makes it feel more like handling a tape machine, but more importantly it's a fast way to zip around my transport.

Cheers

The problem is, the only connection between my controol room and totally isolated studio is the multicable: 4 stereojacks and a lot of XLR's of course.

Is there a way I can put monitor, mouse and/or keyboardsignals through? Please help me, thanks a lot!

There are KVM switches that run on cat 5 cable or “over IP”. In situations where the monitor isn't an issue use Bluetooth. Wireless will usually only reach about 6 feet but I think Bluetooth is 30.

Here is just the first thing I found on Google so I'm not able to recommend it. the basic idea is that you have a cable; one end is connectors to plug into the keyboard monitor and mouse connections on your system (keyboard, video, mouse = KVM). The other end is an RJ45 connector which is the same as a standard network cable. This runs to the KVM switch up to 500 feet. The normal way this is setup is one keyboard monitor and mouse and two computers. The KVM switch allows you to switch between the two computers on the same keyboard monitor and mouse. the cat5 cable allows you to be very far away from the computer.

What you need to find is a variation that will allow you to use two sets of monitors keyboards and mouses/mices/meeses and one computer. Do some searches on Google I'm sure someone is doing this even if it just some additional adaptors maybe.

Looking at the above add it is just a KVM extender not a KVM switch but I think your getting the idea.
