When I started to use this piece of software this afternoon I noticed that when I plugged in my guitar and played there was noticable latency. Maybe just under a second or so but enough to make playing my guitar almost impossible. I switched off a feature just by messing around called "Software Monitoring". The latency disappeared. The sound came through instantaneously. hurrah.

I was just wondering.. why have that software monitoring button? What is "software monitoring " anyway? The manual says somethign about seen as monitoring is processd internally a delay is to be expected.... Is there any reason should keep this on?

Also how the heck do you get FX to work on a track? I cant work out how to put any kind of reverb etc on my DId guitar. The manual's explanation is poor. Can I only add fx in this prog after I have recorded the part?

i don't use logic, but I would think that one of benefits of software monitoring would be to set your levels before recording, then turn it off when recording.
I would also guess that if you set the DMA buffer sizes on your soundcard down a bit, your latency would not be as extreme.
Just a guess.

of course if your monitoring from an external mixer, don't worry about the software monitoring. You can also monitor from the delta control panel

I prefer to use Logic without software monitoring. Now that you mention it though, I should go check why its there.

To use effects, go into your mixer page. I think its ctrl + m

when you see the channel strip, locate the track you want to add an effect to. You will see two rectangles. Click and hold one and it should show you a list of effects.

TO bounce your multitrack to wav, use the bnce button under the master fader.

I have a pretty powerful PC I guess. AMD Athlon 1333 with over 500meg of RAM. What should my buffer sizes be set to?

Also i got he FX working but I was onyl able to add thewm once the guitar part had been recorded. I really wanted to hear the reverb as I was playing the guitar. I know this package is basic (im waiting g for Cubase 5 to come through) but is there any way you can do this?

Set your buffer settings as low as possible. Its really a trial & error thing. If you start getting pops & clicks, set it a little higher. My ASIO buffers are set at 800 samples. This is as low as I can get without popping & clicking.

I doubt that any software program will let you hear effects while recording.

If you have an external effects box though, you can patch it into the delta 66 in such a way that you hear the effect while recording, but the effect does not get recorded. You can also patch it such that the effect will get recorded with the track, however this is not adviseable.
