Anybody have any good reviews or sounds they've recorded with them? Or any idea of what is the best of them to buy? Are they too good to be true or no?

naiant.com has sample recordings. None of them are "the best to buy". It depends on what you are using them for. The MSH-1 is the only one available at the moment, so maybe you should try those.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT to realize that these are omnidirectional microphones with a small element. In other words, if your room doesn't sound nice, your recordings won't either, and maybe a cardiod mic or two is the better option.

In the long run, it is most beneficial to treat your room, but I'm assuming you're a beginner and you probably want to jump right into recording, which is cool :) .

Oh, and the mics really are amazing for the price.

If you have a quiet room, you can't go wrong with a pair of them.

I'm not really a beginner, but I'm looking for a creative tone for a project I'm working on. Essentially I need great but different acoustic guitar tones, as well as something different for drum sounds. Still think these could get the job done?

if you're looking for variety, you're going to need a variety of mics.

Just wanted to say thanks for the thoughts. I ended up ordering a pair of mics. Anybody have any good stories about uses of these in stereo pairs? Or anyone used them (MSH-1) for anything unusual. I'm curious to know what people are using these for.

I don't have a pair yet, but want to record a Leslie and a couple guitar amps with Naiant mics.

I'm wondering how the Niants fair against ECM8000's since thats another affordable SDC omni many people here seem to own around here and might make a good reference point for comparison. If not, what other mics would the Niants be close to or which share the same diaphram for that matter.

What model# diaphram do they use anyway?

I have a pair, the stereo bar, and an MSH-4. MSHilarious suggested this as a cool, funky setup for micing acoustic guitar. Once I'm moved into my new toy and hook everything back up, I'll record a few clips with them. The room sounds great, so it should be a great test for them (except for my very average playing abilities :( ).

I'm gonna do that, too! It's the Decca Tree with a tube in the middle!
