I would love to hear some sound clips of it on a clean amp and distorted signal also.......

Would this mic work for micing a guitar cabinet?

Well, I wouldn't know but I have seen reference
to it not having an extreme high sound
pressure handling, so my guess would be
"no".

Generally, dynamic mics are used on guitar cabinets, but condensers can work too as long as you don't have too high of an SPL level. I've used a condenser on my guitar amp with good results.

You may want to consider something like a Shure SM57 for guitar cabs. If you're just looking for something real cheap that will give good results I'm sure the MSH mic will do good. Just be careful with volume levels.

I have an MSH-1A microphone. Not sure if it's called the MSH-1C mic now or if that's a different mic, but I recorded my amp with it and it worked fine.

Also consider the ES-57 which has gotten a lot of good buzz here.

The 1C has vastly higher SPL handling than the 1A did (the 1O is higher too, but not as high as the 1C). I don't really have a clip to share, I did my clip on apl's RUMBLE! with a 1C, but also an emulator since my tube amp was dead :( so this was a solid-state amp into a 1C into a software emulator:

How high??

That's kind of a trick question. I say 124dBSPL on the site, but that's at 1kHz, where the 1C is most sensitive. Beyond that is pretty hard for me to answer, because my playback system generates excessive harmonic distortion for very loud (>120dBSPL) low-frequency signals. But since the 1C is 10dB less sensitive at 100Hz, the practical SPL handling could be correspondingly higher. Thus I haven't heard distortion on toms or kick with the 1C whereas I still can with the 1O.

I'm waiting for some real drummers to report on their experiences . . .

I used the Omni on a cab that was breaking up fiercly (raunchy 410) five feet out and about three feet up and it really smoothed it out. Still captured the distortion the kid liked but tamed the brittle end I couldn't stand

well, that clip wouldnt work for me, (the one MSHilarious put up), but if you say it will work, I will trust you.

What are some of the kind of standard mic positions for 1 and 2 and 4 speaker guitar amps? Bass amps? (if not going direct)
