question about monitoring

I recently reinstalled cool edit pro 2.0 and now when I record a live performance thru sound card line in all other existing tracks are recorded with it. Before I reinstalled cool edit pro everything worked fine. Any ideas?

System:

ga-7vax with kt 400 chipset
amd athlon xp 2100+
80 gig wd 7200 with 8mb cache
realtek ac97 onboard sound :-(
1022 mb ddram

Well, I'll tell you one thing: You're not going to get a quality recording recording a band LIVE through your soundcard. You'd need a soundcard that's meant for recording with inputs and and outputs, a mixer, and mics.

Hopefully I understood your question right, I'm kind of in a rush.
 
I use drum software and a preamp for everything else but thanx 4 the input
 
Looks like your input device selection is set to "What you hear" (if you use SB card) or something like that. Try to select just "line in" in the recording properties of your (SB) sound card control panel. And select your soundcard as the "rec wave device" in Cool Edit or any other software you use. Hope tis will solve your track overlapping recording.
