Question about converters

I have a question. In my mix, when I am listening to it with the vocals before it is rendered to a wav file, it sounds fine. However, whenever I render a file, it loses it's luster[before it's rendered, it sounds like a very professional quality mix]. Is it due to the converters in my soundcard? Right now I am using a Waveterminal 192L soundcard. It loses it's depth that it had[almost like it went from stereo to mono]. Maybe someone can help me. Oh yeah, the equipment I have right now is:

Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz CPU with 533FSB MOBO
1.5 GB RAM
ESI Waveterminal 192L SoundCard
Studio Projects C1 Microphone
Studio Projects VTB-1 Preamp
Marshall 991/990 mic pair.

Pop guard/stopper
Appropriate shockmounts
88 hammer key action midi controller by M-Audio[nothing to do with audio quality, but still listed it].

A bunch of VST instruments.

I guess I've got just a couple more questions.

After you render it to .wav, are you playing the tune back through the same application or are you using some other .wav player?

I wouldn't think that it has anything to do with your sound card. Since you say it sound fine from your tracking application but then after rendering, it sound different. Are you using the same card? Do you have more than one sound card in your pc? Everything else in the monitoring chain exactly the same as when you were listening from your tracking software?
