Question about Behringer Mixers

Hey this may seem pretty simple to some people but I've actually been wondering for some time (not having done any research on the answer to the question):

What is the difference between the Behringer UB series and the MX series? Why are the UB ones cheaper...is it cheaper preamps? Any answers would be appreciated.

The UB series is actually newer and better than the MX series. I've used both and currently I work on a UB1202. The pres are quite a bit better on the MX. Overall cleaner sound. The only reason to get a Behringer MX is if the UB24 isn't big enough; they haven't made a UB equivalent to the bigger MX consoles.

I've had an MX1604A for a little under a year and I'm getting a bit tired of the pres. You've gotta work with that you have, I say.

If you're in the market for a new mixer, I would look at other mixers, perhaps a Soundcraft. They intrigue me.

Dunno about the UB series and the MX series, but I had a Behringer mixer for about 6 or 7 months and the pre's were fine.... Not brilliant, but hardly limiting.

I actually just upgraded from Behringer 1604A to Spirit Folio SX(by soudcraft, speaking of which). The difference is HUGE. I have to learn a whole new way of working, since I've gotten used to compensate all recorded instruments with A LOT of processing, which is now quite unnecessay to a certain extent. But damn. There a difference allright.

As regarding UB vs. MX, the UB's seem to be of a higher quality than the MX's. BUT direct outs / inserts seem to be absent on all(?) of the UB models, which is a bit of a bitch.
