Can anyone tell me whether the ACM-300 pop filter is metal mesh instead of fabric, and whether it could be used with other microphones?HEY,, you left out the TnC ACM-300 LOL (comes with pop filter)
Hopefully Chance can answer the question, but maybe other folks can too -- The reason this is on my mind is that I occasionally lurk over at psw, and after reading this thread, I was glad I never spent a bunch of $ on a pop filter:
[edit: just realized it's bad etiquette to post a link to another forum - the thread still visible on the front page of whatever works, as I'm writing now, toward the bottom - anyway, it's not necessary to read the thread to understand my question]
It's a long thread - the general consensus is that it's better not to use a pop filter at all, unless you've got a singer with bad technique. At some point there was a mention of a pop filter that was designed especially for a mic, and also there was some intimation that a metal mesh filter would do less HF violence than fabric (while being perhaps slightly less effective at blocking plosives).
The ACM-300 pop filter appears to be both designed for the mic and metal mesh. If it's usable on other mics (even though it's not designed for them, of course), I wonder if it would be preferable to a fabric filter.
