(sorry about the YSI, Putfile's down right now)

This is a clip from The Master's Apprentices, by Opeth. It's got a weird delay effect on the vocals where they start reverberating in before the words are actually said. The way I'd think of to do it is to mult the vocals to two tracks, apply heavy (100% wet) reverb + echo one one of them, and shift it forward to taste. Does this sound right?

Hey, that sounds sensible to me. There may be an easier way, but that way sounds pretty straight forward. I would probably print the effects to the second vocal track and do the fades in and out with volume envelopes.

you should listen to a song called "End" by The Cure. its off the album Wish.

you can hear the effect all over the place.

i think they do it in a lot of their songs.

anyways.. i've seen this effect as a preset on some reverbs but i don't have those anymore so i can't tell you if they work well or not.. but it might be worth looking around for.
