Yeh not another cover.

This is my version of More of that Jazz. It's more timeworthy than previous efforts as I concentrated on keeping the drums simple and 4 square.

See what you think

performance sounds pretty good......but I can't really hear the vocals well enough.....basically all I'm hearing up front is the kick and bass.....the guitars and vocals all need to come up......

Always brave to cover a Queen song so hats off for that.
Performance pretty ok but I really miss Roger Taylor's raw voice here..
And yeah, what the Lt. said. That and the vocals need more balls. Sorry, huge Queen fan here. You've raised the bar very high by covering one of their songs. :)

The vocals sound really muddy. Kick drum sounds like someone knocking on the door to me...Guitars sound pretty good to me.

I liked it, performance-wise. It's really reminiscent of that Queen sound.

However, despite there being a fair amount of [tape?-] hiss, the recording lacked overall crispness, & vocals could have been boosted in relation to instrumental tracks.

Although I've never heard the original to compare it to, your verision is still a fun listen. Queen songs must be some of the hardest songs to cover, and I have yet to hear anyone approach the guitar voicing that Brian May was famous for.

Good job, but probably worth a remix on this one.;)

your full of good covers aren't you?

yeah the drums and vocals could switch places in the mix, but this recording is better than your previous by far! could be tighter, and some of the vocals were reaching.. it's a tough one.. cool listen. keep it going..

Hey, appreciate your replies.

Lt. Bob - yeh the mix is kind of muddy. I'll try slightly more vocal, less drums

christiann - heh, unfortunately the only balls available are the ones that came with the original order. I still have to find the balance between diaphram power and throat control

FattMusiek - yeh mud rules on this one. Trying to find some alternatives

A Reel Person - The hiss may have come from the Alien effect distortion I put on the bass to help it cut through. I put a low cut on the guitars and a high cut on the bass to try and seperate them. I still had trouble getting rid of the mud

B Sabbath - A remix is definitely in order. Vocal reaching ?? you mean trying to find the pitch, or the power?

Hey man,
Nice cover. I agree w/ the vocal comments. They are so compressed/effected that it seems to sit them a bit too far back.
I like the git sound, and i like how up front the kick is.
cool one here:)

Thanks Guernica. I've remixed it based on the feedback received, bass drum back a bit, vocals up a tad, and I'm pretty satisfied with it now.

Thanks again all...

That's pretty good man. I've just scanned through the comments and doubt I have much to add. Tough band to cover for sure, so kudos for that alone.

To me the biggest problem is the vocals are so processed and buried that nothing in this sounds real. It's what's keeping this sounding amateur, if you don't mind a bit of bluntness. But then again, you're covering Queen. So I'd say you can still be very proud of it!

Thanks for the comments SLuiCe. Even if you did say the 'A' word heh.

I'm just wondering if you listened to the remixed version. If so, then it's obviously still not as good as it could be. There is quite a bit of compression on the vocal. I will need to revisit that
