HI! Our band joined this BBS because a member here named Chad was talking about it in a garageband board--it was a discussion about the flaws of garageband, especially for folk rock, and his comments and subsequent referral to this BBS made us feel that this would be a good place to anchor down. Our band has free Mp3's at our website www.quebb.net. This album, The Unknown Show, which comes out in a couple of weeks, was recorded on the road in every conceivable, or at times inconceivable, location: garages, in the RV that eventually exploded, basements, national forests, and eventually finished in the winter desert of Santa Fe at 7000 feet. It is generally considered folk rock, carried primarilly by guitar, piano, sax, and hand drums. We are a three-man band, not by choice, but by circumstance, but it worked out well for us. Our music seems to be a bit of a paradox--we win awards for best lyrics, best vocals, best melody but still get low scores on places like garageband. We assume, as most would, that the paradigm for sites like garageband is just skewed, and we are working band, so criticism doesn't bother us--to each his own is an axiom we should embrace more. But, it is still nice to here from people who like folk music and will take the time to lend an attentive ear, and that's what Chad said this place is all about, so please visit our site if you have a moment. One thing before you go in, just because we always get asked this: think hearbeat, not clock. Not every 4/4 time song needs its downbeats on the 1/3 or 2/4. Anyway, I mixed this while recovering from a freak head injury that occured days after we finished the recordings on a lap top, but its honest and its what we do, so I'm not really asking for mixing advice (its already in production) and please keep in mind the MP3s aren't always crystal clear. Just share with us your thoughts if the spirit moves you. Thank you!
