KevinD said:ok bro, whoever said that firewire was a waste of time doesn't know computer recording the way they should...firewire is the future of data transfer AND pc recording (check out Yamaha's MLan for details). As far as USB goes, here's what you can do. USB can operate running FOUR signals at once. either you decide to monitor two and record two, record four and then move cables around to monitor them...OR you can monitor four signals and record nothing! how great would that be...remember! if you are tolerant of your sound card's monitoring, then you have the four recorded signals to work with and the monitoring through the sound card. the PCI card installation is cool, but it has its limits, if you're not planning on doing anything crazy with this setup, i would look into the OMNI STUDIO by MAudio, which offers a setup similar to that of the DIGI 001, which is sweet. DON'T MISQUOTE ME: i said it was similar, not the same thing...check out www.maudio.com for details...in fact maudio is releasing a firewire recording interface for around 450 which is SIMILAR to the MOTU 828 or PRESONUS FIRESTATION...you have alot of options!
